(Question and Answer - Pat Metheny) - Roy Haynes / drums - Dave Holland / bass - Pat Metheny / guitar, synclavier Patrick Bruce "Pat" Metheny (born August 12, 1954 in Missouri, USA) is an American guitarist, composer and band leader. Methenys breakthrough was with vibraphonist Gary Burton's quartet in early 70s as a teenager. Games then as a sideman with pianist Paul Bley, and other lesser known musicians. In 1975 he formed his first trio as a leader, with bassist Jaco Pastorius and drummer Bob Moses. The Recorded debut LP Bright Size Life, which today is a classic in fusion music. Metheny then met up in 1977, pianist Lyle Mays, with whom he formed a new group, and recorded with changing crew, except for Mays, a series of plates on the record company ECM. In 1987 changed the Pat Metheny Group record label of Geffen Records, and recorded the LP Still Life Talking, which was a groundbreaking record, with Brazilian! inspiration. This group is recorded a number of discs all of which are now classics, eg. Letter From Home. With a few solo projects and recordings with others, Metheny is still active with this group on the jazz scene over the world. Metheny has also played and recorded with Ornette Coleman, Roy Haynes, Dave Holland, Chick Corea, Jack DeJohnette, John Scofield, Herbie Hancock, Dewey Redman, Billy Higgins, Charlie Haden, Michael Brecker, Ed Blackwell and Joni Mitchell.
